ECO Pop Up Shop

Just got some leaflets back from the printers for the ECO Pop Up Shop in Bristol, showcasing Aymo and Mabboo products. Be sure to give them a visit. Printed on 100% recycled paper. Obviously. Like a boss.

Mabboo Mural

Here is the live art I created at the ECO Pop Up Shop at the weekend. The ECO team had a fun Saturday night launch party and needed some art for their walls. The shop is located on the top floor of The Galleries shopping centre, Bristol, and features Mabboo Bamboo T-shirts and products, and Aymo shoes and satchels. The mural features some Chinese, a  lucky cat, some bamboo, clouds, a sunburst, hot air balloons, the Clifton suspension bridge, and the SS Great Britain. If you're in Bristol go take a look! Thans to Ed and the Aymo team, (and special thanks to Sam for his help: his filling in was exemplary!).

Halsetown Inn

Here is an illustration I created of the Halsetown Inn - a new addition to my illustrations for the Blas Burgerworks website. You can see it sitting on the internet right here, and read all about their menu and wish that St Ives was closer!

Live Art @ ECO Pop Up Shop

I'm doing some live art at the new ECO pop up shop in The Galleries shopping centre in Bristol on Saturday 1 December from 5pm. The new ECO store features Mabboo & Aymo products - the perfect alternative...sustainable...eco-friendly...creative...organic presents for Christmas (nearly ran out of steam there). Come for the art...stay for the shoes, satchels, Tees and hoodies. Upstairs by Argos. Grab me a catalogue yeah?

Postcards To Alphaville

I'm a big fan of the Postcards To Alphaville website, a site dedicated to illustrations of people's film character crushes. Some of my faves are Pris from Blade Runner, Bob from Lost in Translation, and Phil Seymour Hoffman's creepy guy from Happiness. Inspired by the site, I created this illustration of Enid from Ghost World. Don't judge me...

Brighton Skateboards Sticker & Packaging

Here's a deck sticker and package design I did for Brighton Skateboards. The 22" grip tape, deck sticker and spare wheel set combo now come free (for a limited time) with all the new boards ordered online via their site. Can't argue with that. They're now available - just in time for Christmas - right here! PS: watch out for me on my new board. I WILL crash into you if you don't move out of the way. Haven't nailed turning yet.

Movember portraits

Here are some of the portraits I've been doing to raise money for bloke cancer charities as part of Movember over at Gallery of Mo. There's still time to get your portrait done in exchange for a donation. Here's my page.

Another mural

Recently did another mural (I love the smell of emulsion FYI). Here's a couple of quick snaps - the more intelligent of you may very well see a theme emerging. Answers on a postcard please. Will post some better photos soon. Promise.

Eye Candy Festival

Here's my contribution to the 12 x 12 project for the Eye Candy Festival of visual culture in Birmingham. Different artists and illustrators from around the country were given a record sleeve to customise, based on an album cover by a Birmingham musician or band.
I chose Broadcast's Tender Buttons, featuring the late great Trish Keenan on the front. They're all being auctioned to raise money for charity Oxjam Brum, and are on display in Le Truc, Birmingham.

Gallery of MOvember

I'm one of about 100 artists taking part in the Gallery of Mo this year, an artist project running alongside the regular moustache-growing-competition-for-charity

We'll be drawing portraits of people, and adding facial hair where necessary, in return for donations to the related charities. It is my way of being able to raise charity without having to endure hormone replacement therapy to grow something that looks anything more than mere dirt along my top lip within 28 days.

So if you want to be drawn "be'tached" you know where to come. Check out my artist page here, and the other participating artists here.

Hanover Playgroup

Did this little poster for a friend recently - it can be seen all over Muesli Mountain. I'm gonna go one day, and make sure no-one's hogging all the Lego.

Vanity Project...?

Here's a poster I did for a group of DJs calling themselves "The Gentlemens Vanity Project" - with blank spaces for them to scrawl the line-up and venue of their next exciting instalment... Hopefully the Preacherman makes an appearance.

More Washing Up

Here's a decorative plate I painted recently to go on the wall of the Halsetown Inn, down near St Ives. Owed them a favour. Won't be doing them a whole dinner set though.

Seaside Pop Up Shop

Organised a little pop up shop in Rottingdean for the month with some friends, taking advantage of a disused shop by the seafront. Lots of screenprints, badges, bunting, earrings, necklaces, rings, greetings cards, Mabboo T-shirts, framed artwork, tote bags, stained glass sculptures, mugs, rustic wooden stools, Take a look at some of our wares for sale here, or better still come pay us a visit!

hellohead

Really enjoyed getting involved in hellohead earlier this year. Illustrators from across the UK have been paired up to draw one another, with an auction at the end to raise money for the National Autistic Society. See my portrait of Simon Tozer, and Simon Tozer's portrait of me on the hellohead site

How's My Grilling?

Coming to a festival near you this summer: the Blas Burgerworks Street van! The St Ives-based burger restaurant, revered for its organic ingredients, locally-sourced produce, sustainable credentials (and most-importantly tasty burgers) is going on the road this summer. They asked me to put together a design for the 'Blasmobile', which was unveiled last weekend at the Golowan Festival, Penzance, and the Quay Fair day. The design was very kindly artworked onto the van by the good people at Signs Express, Exeter. All this thinking about Blas Burgers is making me hungry. Cornish Blue Cheeseburger please. I wonder if they'll deliver to Brighton...(picks up phone)...
In their own words: 3.5 tonnes of burger love coming your way! Follow Marie, Sally, Lisa and the team's antics here, here and here ! Phew!

Phoenix Magazine

Here's an illustration I did for Phoenix Magazine this month, about eccentric British characters...in their underwear. You had to be there...

Halsetown Inn Mural # 2

Here's a much larger mural I did in the dining room of the Halsetown Inn. Somewhat eclipsed by the massive pews, but hey they're essential for the hundreds of people that'll be in to try Chef Baxter and the crew's new menu and wine list! So the new management love all the appaloosa horses in the surrounding fields, so they had to make an appearance, along with their new slogan and the area's beautiful scenery.

This horse is small:
This horse is far away:

Here's the text for those of you who don't want to strain your eyes too much:
Here's a cloud coming off the Atlantic:
And here's one in daylight for you non-vampires:
